Chapter 3: The Financial Decimation

At 9:00 a.m., Javier Robles walked into the high-rise offices of Miller & Croft Attorneys at Law, adjusting his silk tie. He looked slightly tired, but a smug, victorious grin sat on his face. He had spent the last three hours sleeping in the hotel penthouse after his mother and aunts had left Sofia to "think about her future."

He assumed Sofia was still hiding in the bathroom, weeping and preparing to sign the real estate transfer documents to save herself from another lesson.

As he walked past the receptionist desk, he noticed the usual polite smiles were missing. The staff looked at him with an eerie, distant avoidance.

"Javier," a cold voice called out.

Javier turned to see Senior Managing Partner Arthur Croft standing in the doorway of his corner office, surrounded by two security officers.

"Arthur, good morning," Javier said, his smile faltering. "I wanted to brief you on the upcoming commercial acquisition case—"

"Step into the office, Javier. And leave your briefcase on the table," Croft said, his tone completely devoid of its usual warmth.

The moment the door closed, Arthur Croft threw a heavy legal envelope onto the desk. It was bearing the official seal of the Texas State Bar Association, alongside an emergency corporate injunction from Vance Holdings.

"What is this?" Javier asked, his hands beginning to sweat as he opened the document.

"That is an immediate, non-negotiable termination of your employment, Javier," Croft said, looking at him with deep disgust. "At 7:30 this morning, Vance Holdings—our largest corporate client, who accounts for forty percent of our firm's annual revenue—notified us that they are pulling all their accounts. They also informed us that if you are not removed from the premises and disbarred by the end of the business day, they will execute a predatory foreclosure on the office building, which their subsidiary happens to own."

Javier’s face drained of color. "Arthur, you can't do this! On what grounds? I am on track for partnership!"

"On the grounds of moral turpitude, extortion, and conspiracy to commit aggravated felony assault," Croft hissed, pointing a trembling finger at the television screen on the wall.

The Public Exposure

Croft hit the remote control, switching the channel to the local Dallas morning news.

The screen displayed a high-definition security camera feed from the luxury hotel where the wedding reception had taken place. The footage was incredibly clear. It showed Javier standing guard outside the hotel room corridor at 2:45 a.m., casually checking his watch and adjusting his tuxedo jacket while his mother, Carmen, accompanied by five other women, walked into the suite with heavy, cloth-wrapped objects in their hands.

The audio, captured by a hidden directional microphone Alexander’s team had extracted from the hotel’s hallway security system, played loudly through the office speakers.

"Mom, don’t hit her so hard in the face. Everyone’ll notice tomorrow."

Javier’s own voice echoed through the pristine corporate office, sounding flat, cowardly, and monstrous.

"This is a setup!" Javier shrieked, his knees buckling as he stumbled backward against the glass wall. "This footage was illegally obtained! It’s inadmissible in court!"

"It doesn't need to be admissible in a courtroom to ruin your life on the internet, you pathetic piece of trash," Croft spat. "The video has already been leaked to every major legal publication in the state. The State Bar has already suspended your license pending an emergency hearing at noon. Security, escort Mr. Robles out through the service elevator. If he sets foot on this floor again, have him arrested for trespassing."

The Fall of the House of Robles

While Javier was being dragged out of his office in disgrace, his mother, Carmen, was sitting in her lavish North Dallas living room, sipping tea and reviewing a catalog of luxury sports cars she intended to purchase once Sofia’s Uptown apartment was sold.

The heavy front doors of her mansion suddenly erupted inward.

Four federal marshals, backed by Dallas Police detectives, marched into the foyer with their weapons drawn. Behind them walked Alexander Vance, his arms crossed, his presence completely dominating the ruined elegance of the room.

"Carmen Robles," the lead detective stated, holding up a high-court warrant. "You are under arrest for aggravated assault, organized criminal activity, and attempted grand extortion."

Carmen dropped her porcelain cup, the hot liquid staining her expensive Persian rug. She looked at the officers, then at Alexander, her face twisting into a mask of venomous rage. "You can't touch me! My son is a top lawyer in this city! He will have your badges for this! That little bitch Sofia signed a prenuptial agreement! The property belongs to our family dynamic!"

"Your son is currently unemployed, broke, and sitting in the back of a police cruiser outside his office building, Carmen," Alexander said, stepping closer until he was standing directly over her chair. The sheer power radiating from him made her voice die in her throat.

"You thought because Sofia was sweet, because she was gentle, that she was unprotected," Alexander whispered, his voice sounding like dry leaves over a grave.

"You forgot who gave her that apartment. You forgot that her last name isn't Robles. It's Vance. And in this city... my name is the law."

Lev stepped forward, holding a legal ledger. "Mr. Vance, the private bank has processed the immediate recall of the secondary collateral loan. The foreclosure on this mansion is complete. The moving crews are outside to remove all assets to cover the damages to the Vance estate."

As the officers ruffed Carmen’s gold bracelets away, replacing them with cold, steel handcuffs, she began to scream, her expensive perfume and elegant illusions completely shattered as she was dragged down her own marble steps into the blinding light of the afternoon sun.
