Chapter 2: The Other Children

Three days later, I received an anonymous email.
Subject line:
"Ask about the other kids."
Attached were screenshots.
Messages.
Photos.
Parent complaints.
School reports.
My stomach turned.
For years, Lisa had been targeting children who outperformed Madison.
A missing science project.
A destroyed art submission.
A soccer uniform mysteriously ruined before a championship game.
Each incident had been dismissed as bad luck.
Misunderstandings.
Coincidences.
But the evidence painted a different picture.
One parent admitted their son quit piano after Lisa publicly mocked him during a recital.
Another family moved schools entirely after repeated bullying incidents involving Lisa.
The pattern was undeniable.
Whenever Madison lost, Lisa found a way to punish the winner.
I brought everything to investigators.
Soon more parents came forward.
Then more.
Then more.
The local newspaper picked up the story.
The town was horrified.
Not just by what Lisa had done.
But by how long she had been allowed to do it.

And then came the biggest revelation of all.
Madison herself had been suffering too.
