Chapter 7 - The Exposure

The ballroom erupted into chaos. Journalists scrambled forward, their cameras flashing rapidly, capturing Eleanor’s expression of pure, unadulterated horror.

"Security! Clear them out!" Eleanor shrieked, gesturing wildly to her guards at the perimeter. "My son has suffered a psychological breakdown! These are actors!"

But before the security guards could take a single step, Julian tapped his tablet. The massive projector screens behind the stage—which were supposed to display the company's new merger logo—flickered and changed.

Displayed for the entire room to see were the internal emails between Eleanor and the hospital administrator, the wire transfer receipts from her offshore account, and the certified verification from the state court proving that our divorce papers were complete forgeries.

"These are the receipts of your crimes, Eleanor," Julian’s voice boomed over the house audio system. "You used corporate funds and personal influence to kidnap two infants, forge legal documents, and fabricate the death of a young mother, all to maintain your absolute control over the Vance family legacy."

The board members sitting in the front row stood up in unison, their faces filled with disgust and corporate panic. The lead investor for the merger took one look at the screen, turned to his associates, and said, "The deal is off. Pull the capital immediately."

"No! Wait!" Eleanor cried out, rushing to the edge of the stage, her composure entirely shattered. "It was for the family! Emily was a nobody! She would have ruined our reputation! I did it for you, Ryan!"

I stepped onto the stage, looking down at the woman who had given me life but had taken away everything that made life worth living.

"You didn't do it for me, Mother," I said softly, the microphone picking up every bitter cadence of my voice. "You did it for your own ego. You are no longer the chairperson of this company. You are no longer a member of this family. And as of this moment, the police are waiting outside."

As if on cue, four federal investigators and local police officers walked into the ballroom. They marched straight up to the stage, ignored Eleanor's screams of outrage, and placed her glittering, diamond-encrusted wrists into heavy steel handcuffs.
