Chapter 10 - The Horizon of Tomorrow

The grand ballroom of the Carter Estate was filled with light, music, and the joyous chatter of true friends, loyal colleagues, and extended family. White roses and trailing ivy decorated every pillar, and a live string quartet played a soft, romantic waltz.
Evelyn stood in front of the tall mirror, looking at her reflection. She wore a magnificent, custom-designed white lace wedding gown that flowed around her like a dream. Her hair was styled in soft waves, and around her neck hung a delicate diamond pendant that had belonged to her biological mother.
The door opened, and little Noah walked in, looking incredibly handsome in a miniature black tuxedo. He held a velvet pillow with two gold wedding bands.
“Wow, Evie,” Noah said, his eyes wide with awe. “You look like a real princess.”
Evelyn knelt down, ignoring the volume of her dress, and hugged her little brother tightly. “Thank you, buddy. And you look like the best ring bearer in the world. Are you ready?”
“Ready!” Noah grinned, proud of his important job.
A few minutes later, the heavy oak doors opened to the grand garden terrace where the ceremony was held. The guests rose as Evelyn walked down the aisle, her arm looped through her father’s old attorney's, who proudly walked her down in Arthur’s honor.
At the end of the aisle stood Nathan Brooks.
He looked stunningly handsome in his tuxedo, his gaze locked entirely onto Evelyn from the moment she appeared. As she reached him, he took her hand, his fingers wrapping around hers with that same steady, reassuring warmth that had saved her on that rainy night six months ago.
The vows were spoken with deep emotion, every word a testament to the storm they had survived together and the unbreakable bond they had forged.
“I do,” Nathan said, his voice echoing with absolute certainty.
“I do,” Evelyn replied, her heart overflowing with happiness.
As the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Nathan pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss. The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, and Noah cheered loudly from the front row, throwing flower petals into the air.
During the reception, as the sun began to set over the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant hues of gold, pink, and violet, Nathan led Evelyn out to the quiet edge of the garden overlook.
He wrapped his jacket around her shoulders to shield her from the cool evening breeze, pulling her close against his side. They looked out at the beautiful city lights beginning to twinkle in the distance.
“We did it, Mrs. Brooks,” Nathan whispered, kissing the top of her head.

Evelyn smiled, looking up at her husband, the man who had turned a terrifying betrayal into the most beautiful love story of her life.
“We did,” she murmured, resting her head against his chest as they stepped together into their perfect, bright tomorrow.
